DIY SEO
Do it yourself SEO.
The success of doing your own SEO is entirely dependent on your circumstances – the time you have to dedicate to it, what your site is about and your personal ability to apply the system, over and over again. The 4′ps of online success are really applicable when you DIY – passion, personal relationships, process and persistence.
For some, the daily process is enjoyable, part of the pleasure of monitoring increasing numbers of visitors to your site after a particular activity. For others, it represents hard work, is tedious, even arduous, when there are so many other things you judge to be a better use of your time.
For the latter, you should not even consider DIY SEO. Select a reputable SEO Partner and software that will give you maximum control over your online success. The reality is that for the cost, you will be saving yourself hours and hours of work you really don’t want to do.
For the former, those of you who just love the process, want to learn more, can’t resist the daisy chain effect of researching the net, than DIY SEO can be really fulfilling, sometimes desperately frustrating, but always exciting.
It is highly recommended that if it is to support your blog you use both WordPress, which Google loves and Thesis as a framework, as it has been SEO optimized.
There is a third method, represented by providers of SEO optimized platforms on which you build your site, while they take care of a certain amount of the search engine optimization processes. Site Build It is one such platform and they enjoy a deserved reputation for their high level support of their website owners.
They take a lot of the ‘noise’ out of the process and most of the guesswork, leaving you to do the more fruitful aspects of SEO, writing keyword focussed content, communicating on blogs and forums and uploading articles to ezinearticles.com, for example.
It is a sort of middle ground between paying a professional SEO provider to do absolutely everything for you and doing the hard yards yourself. It provides you the platform, inexpensively (US$29 per month) on which you build the website with pretty much guaranteed SEO results, if you follow their easy step by step action guide.
As an example, I built knit-a-square.com on Site Build It. Within the first month the site had 11 unique visitors a day, 18 months later the site enjoys 500 unique visitors most days.
There really is no golden goose. Don’t be hoodwinked by those that promise miracles at the flick of your credit card. Like any business, you start somewhere and build over time. You investigate, plan, chose the right employees and suppliers, devise sound processes and persist in order to succeed. Good SEO, aimed at bringing lots of the right visitors who want what you are offering is no different.
Check out the suggestions I have made here. You can trial or test or use most of the platforms before you make a decision.
